After you have a portfolio:-
Get good quality prints got made and sticker-labels (with your
name, address, contact Numbers & height mentioned). Attach the
labels behind the photos.
- Put
the photos in groups of 4 or 5 postcard size copies in an envelope,
together with a writeup/resume on modeling experience (if any).
- Deliver
the portfolio envelopes in person (if you can't, post/courier) --
choose the target market, which can be Advertising Agencies, Film
Production Houses, Model Agencies, Model Coordinators, Music Companies
& Video Directors, Fashion Show choreographers etc.
-
Follow up on telephone 3 or 4 days later.
-
Depending on the agency, be prepared for calls for video tests, more
photo shots, etc. Continue to prepare for this.
Some things to watch out for:- Deal
with agencies or coodinators directly -- they are more professional.
Avoid people who promise breaks due to their connections.
- If
hiring a model coordinator, do a background check on him/her -- ask the
coordinator who (s)he may have worked him, their contact numbers, and
call them to check -- they may be touts. Fix their cut well in advance.
Early in the process, deal with the agencies directly -- once you get
the idea of agency handling, get a model coordinator (if at all, later).
- Attend auditions or meetings, only if they are held
in offices, not in homes or hotels and only in the office's normal working times.
-
Never agree to report for any shoot, unless
you have clearly fixed the remuneration & got satisfactory
replies to all your queries. Never accept that your
queries will be answered once you report to the
shoot.
